NTT DATA aims to make India major hub for its consulting business
Global IT services company NTT DATA aims to make India a major hub for business consulting, given the availability of talent in the country.
Tokyo-headquartered IT services company NTT DATA has chalked out an ambitious plan to expand the scope of its global consulting business from India.
NTT DATA believes India is well-positioned to emerge as a major hub for providing consulting services. “India for us is a value outsourcing location rather than just a cost outsourcing destination," Niraj Singhal, Senior Vice President, Consulting & Digital Transformation Services, NTT DATA Services said in a conversation with YourStory.
How to start a Profitable Consulting Business in India or anywhere in the world, in any industry or niche?
According to Singhal, consulting services businesses have seen a change post-pandemic. Earlier, it was considered nearly impossible to provide consulting services without being at the location or geography of a particular client, but with the emergence of remote working environments this has become possible.
Given this background, NTT DATA is now recruiting more people in India for consulting services. Singhal said the number of its consultants in India was "significant". However, he declined to disclose the exact number.
NTT DATA has around 1,90,000 employees located across more than 50 countries.
He said NTT DATA is now recruiting young graduates or those with minimal work experience in India and are doing client-facing roles who are based out in the US and Europe. In addition, a significant number of these recruits are women.
“India is the only place where we find the right kind of talent,” Singhal remarked. NTT DATA aims to double the growth of consulting business every year from India.
Today, consulting has emerged as a key theme for enterprises as they look to ride through the various technology and business challenges. NTT DATA has its own set of frameworks where the focus is on innovation and coming out with disruptive ideas which could possibly be the next big thing.
The consulting business of NTT DATA under Singhal is predominantly focused on the financial services industry and going forward it sees high potential in the healthcare and energy sectors.
