Here is your daily dose of key developments from the technology world of India.
SAP Labs completes 25 years in Bengaluru
SAP Labs India, the Bengaluru-based R&D arm of SAP, completed 25 years of operations in the city. The global technology company has committed to double down on its investments in India besides expanding its focus on AI technologies.
Since its inception in 1998, SAP Labs India has made significant contributions to SAP's flagship solutions in enterprise resource planning, customer experience, cloud ERP, sustainability, supply chain resiliency, and the future of work.
Today, India is among the fastest-growing regions for SAP, with the region’s contribution to SAP APAC’s cloud revenues up 2X in the last two years, the company said in a statement.
As part of its investments in the region, SAP Labs India is building a second campus in Bengaluru, which will generate 15,000 more jobs in India’s technology space.
Sindhu Gangadharan, MD and SVP of SAP Labs India, and Head of SAP User Enablement, said, “India offers a powerful mix for SAP: the fastest growing market region powered by SAP’s largest R&D centre... As we look forward to strengthening our capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud, and sustainability, building the tech talent and industry-academia relations remains a priority.”
Six deeptech startups graduate from NetApp’s accelerator programme
Six deeptech startups—Zluri, AppSenitels, RapL, PrivaSapien, Firefly, and Squadcast—from the 11th cohort of NetApp's accelerator programme, the NetApp Excellerator, graduated at a demo day event, the global data-centric software company said.
According to NetApp, Cohort 11 saw startups developing cutting-edge solutions in the field of data security. These startups worked with NetApp mentors to refine their technology and go-to-market strategies to give them an edge over their competitors.
Among the graduating startups, PrivaSapien was mentored under NetApp ExcellerateHER—an initiative of the accelerator programme dedicated to promoting women-led startups. Since its inception, NetApp ExcellerateHER has mentored 12 women-led startups operating in the B2B deeptech space.
Participating startups raised a collective sum of over $330 million in funding, of which $160 million was raised in the calendar year 2022.
A total of 72 deeptech startups were mentored and 18 have engaged in proof of concept (POCs), with NetApp’s backing in funding and technology support.
The NetApp Excellerator has graduated 24 startups based outside India. From the current cohort, POCs for AppSentinels and RapL have already been successfully implemented. In addition, seven startups have achieved successful exits.
