TCS bags deal from Standard Life International
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has partnered with Standard Life International DAC (SLIDAC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Phoenix Group, to enhance the customer experience for its policyholders in Europe using the TCS Digital Platform for Life and Pensions. The platform is powered by TCS BaNCS.
TCS has had a long-standing partnership with the Phoenix Group in the UK, where its UK subsidiary, Diligenta, administers more than 10 million policies for the latter. The two organisations have extended the same enhanced digital experience to policyholders in Germany and Austria, and thereafter in other European markets.
With this partnership, TCS will set up a customer operations centre in Germany and push out a life and pensions digital platform for Germany and Austria, with capabilities to extend into other European markets. TCS will initially transform and migrate more than 400,000 policies comprising SLIDAC’s German and Austrian life and pension books to its platform, and create comprehensive, omnichannel, journey-based digital experiences for policyholders and advisors.

LTTS partners with BSNL for 5G technology
L&T Technology Services (LTTS), an engineering services company, has partnered with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to drive and enable global enterprises in their private 5G network deployments. BSNL and LTTS plan to co-innovate and jointly bring to market private 5G connectivity solutions to accelerate digital transformation for enterprises.
According to the agreement framework signed by both companies, the spectrum will be provided by BSNL using both PLMN or isolated allotment. LTTS will anchor the private network requirements by deploying equipment, applications, servers, technology and software, and core for the integration of devices/sensors within the customer’s ecosystem.
The partnership marks LTTS’ foray into the 5G private network space, with LTTS assuming the role of a master system integrator for customers as well as offering the choice of technologies, equipment and use case buildout, while BSNL will be the official network provider.
According to IDC, the global private 5G market is expected to exceed $8 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 35.7% from 2022. India is seeing an increased need for enterprises seeing the need for deploying a Non-Public Network (NPN) due to faster connection speed and lower latency.
Mindgrove Technologies part of Imagination’s Open Access program
UK-based Imagination Technologies and India-based Mindgrove Technologies have partnered under Imagination’s Open Access programme—the first official partnership in India under the programme.
Imagination has over 25 years of experience in creating and licensing IPs used in silicon chips. Under its Open Access programme, early-stage companies can access GPU and AI accelerator IP without any licensing costs. This lowers the entry barriers for start-ups to design world-class System-on-Chips (SoCs).
Mindgrove Technologies is a semiconductor startup that is designing SoCs using the Shakti core microprocessor. The company said its India-made chips are designed to be high-performance, low-power and cost-effective. They are meant for use in power-constrained applications in automotive, consumer electronics, industrial automation, security and aviation.
Modern silicon design companies license existing silicon IPs and build on top of that. This way, they can focus on creating a unique differentiation instead of re-invention. This is especially true of newer companies with limited R&D budgets and lower tolerance for failure. However, licensing IP involves three costs—an upfront licensing fee, technical support charges, and royalties on sales.
Under Imagination’s Open Access programme, the upfront licensing fee is waived and the support is provided in fixed price bundles to enable the customer to manage their project budget. This lowers the barriers to entry to SoC design and provides help through technical expertise, class-leading tools, and engineering support.
