DHL IT Services strengthens India presence with fifth centre in Indore

DHL Group, the Germany-based global logistics company, has expanded its technology footprint in India with the launch of its fifth IT services centre in Indore.
The company said it chose Indore for its strong academic ecosystem and high talent retention, making it well-suited to build long-term capabilities. The new centre, which already employs 100 people, will also serve as a dedicated training academy for the Group.
The technology operations, called DHL IT Service, began operations in India in Chennai eight years ago. In the last 18 months, it has expanded to three more centres in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

“Digitalisation is one of the five megatrends guiding our Strategy 2030, and India is central to building the digital backbone of our business,” said Supriya Rao Patwardhan, Executive Vice President, Global Head of IT Services, DHL Group.
DHL IT Services, the digital technologies arm of the Group, has nearly 6,000 employees worldwide. Of these, 1,300 employees are based in India, which is one of the fastest growing locations for the company.
“Indore is home to numerous prestigious educational institutions, which allows us to collaborate on enhancing curricula and providing students with pathways to join DHL Group. Additionally, the city offers a higher retention rate of talent, reflecting a strong commitment from the local workforce,” said Johan Berghs, SVP, Global Head of Digital Solutions and Head of ITS India.
DHL ITS India collaborates with more than 15 technology partners and works closely with leading universities, having piloted five academic partnerships to align curricula with industry needs. This focus on continuous learning ensures that teams in India not only contribute to global projects but also drive the innovation that powers DHL’s worldwide logistics network.
“With its deep talent pool and strong government focus on skill development, India is helping us deliver automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced digital solutions that improve productivity and create exceptional experiences for our customers,” said Patwardhan.
The expansion of DHL ITS is part of DHL Group’s ongoing commitment to India, with investments announced over the past few years to expand its operations and upgrade its facilities to support growing customer demand.
