The India centre plays a critical role in both technology development and operational efficiency. It is focused on strengthening its role as a technology partner in the shipping and mailing ecosystem by building solutions that modernise processes. It is also building strong IT capabilities to boost operational efficacy.
The GCC in India is building deep domain knowledge and technology leadership, while catering to the requirements of its clients in India.
In an interaction with EnterpriseStory, Pankaj Sachdeva, VP - Data Science & Analytics and MD, India at Pitney Bowes, talks about the importance of the company’s technology centre in India.

India operates as both an innovation hub and a delivery centre, driving progress in automation, advanced analytics, and digital platforms that simplify and transform commerce for global clients. This capability is central to our growth strategy, reinforcing our global technology roadmap and enabling us to deliver solutions that are scalable and adaptable.
ES: How does Pitney Bowes’ R&D centre in India contribute to the development of the company’s global products and solutions?
PS: Our India centre plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s global product portfolio. It is the engine behind many of our technological innovations: from developing advanced automation frameworks to building AI-driven models that optimise shipping and mailing workflows.
The team works on predictive analytics, digital platforms, and security solutions that are integrated into products used worldwide. Beyond core development, the centre drives work with emerging technologies and collaborates closely with global teams to ensure solutions are resilient and aligned with future market needs.
This innovation hub not only accelerates product development but also strengthens our ability to deliver differentiated, technology-led solutions across geographies.
ES: Does Pitney Bowes have a customer base in India? If so, how is the company performing in the Indian market?
PS: Yes, we have an established customer base in India and we continue to deliver strong value to clients. Our solutions are widely adopted by banks, financial institutions, and district revenue offices for digitising critical processes such as stamp-duty collection through advanced tax meter technology.
We also develop innovative, technology-led offerings that simplify operations and improve efficiency for clients across sectors. Our focus remains on building long-term relationships and supporting customers through digital transformation initiatives that enhance their business outcomes.
ES: How is Pitney Bowes India leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, ML, automation, and analytics to enhance its offerings?
PS: We are integrating advanced technologies across our solutions to deliver greater intelligence and agility. AI and machine learning enable smarter decision-making by optimising shipping routes, predicting return trends, and tailoring experiences to client needs.
Our analytics platforms transform raw data into actionable insights, giving businesses real-time visibility and control. Automation is eliminating manual bottlenecks, accelerating processes, and improving accuracy at scale. These innovations are not just about speed. They allow us to rethink traditional workflows and create solutions that are adaptive, intuitive, and built for the next generation of commerce.
ES: How is Pitney Bowes India attracting and retaining talent?
PS: India hosts one of our largest global capability centres, which plays a critical role in both technology development and operational excellence. We are expanding our talent base in high-impact areas such as AI, data science, automation, cybersecurity, and full-stack engineering, skills that directly shape our innovation agenda.
To attract and retain top talent, we invest deeply in capability-building programmes like the client centricity programme, young talent development, and mentorship and talent rotation initiatives. These initiatives are designed to build cross-functional expertise and strengthen business acumen. At the same time, we are building strong IT capabilities by expanding teams in areas such as software engineering, cloud platforms, data analytics, and cybersecurity to accelerate product development and innovation. With its deep talent pool and dynamic innovation landscape, India plays an important role in advancing our global technology roadmap and reinforcing our leadership in digital commerce solutions.
