AI adoption among Indian enterprises gathering pace by the day: Snowflake MD
AI adoption is moving beyond pilot projects and experiments towards implementing a strong agentic workflow within the organisation, says Vijayant Rai, Managing Director – India, Snowflake.
Cloud-based AI data company Snowflake sees adoption of AI by Indian enterprises growing stronger by the day as they increasingly realise the benefits of the technology.
In a conversation with EnterpriseStory, Vijayant Rai, Managing Director – India, Snowflake said, “As a fully managed AI data cloud company, we are able to get enough telemetry to make out what features and functionalities customers are using, and it is extremely amazing to see the amount of AI now being used by our customers.”
AI in enterprises has moved from proof of concepts and pilot projects to actual implementation in various functionalities. According to Rai, large Indian enterprises have built a fairly large pipeline of AI use cases.
“Indian enterprises are now actually looking at how they can move into initial production of AI use cases to become an agentic organisation where they can infuse agents in a large way,” said Rai.
Even as AI gets implemented rapidly, enterprises are concerned about issues such as security and governance. They are also sharply focused on the outcomes of AI and the costs associated with the implementation of this technology. Enterprises are engaging with Snowflake to create suitable AI strategies keeping in mind security, outcomes, and cost.
Snowflake's core offering is built around making unstructured data of enterprises AI ready for use, so that the output is more credible, leading to greater trust in the technology.
The company sees AI adoption from both digital native companies as well as traditional enterprises. The AI adoption roadmap of Indian enterprises is a mix of scaling-out solutions and creating a pipeline of use cases.
According to Rai, Snowflake's biggest advantage is that it provides all offerings—AI data cloud, LLMs, and machine learning—on a single platform. “The ease of use on our platform is the reason for the adoption pace of AI,” he said.
Snowflake said it is seeing continued acceleration in AI adoption. Snowflake CoCo, a data native AI coding agent, has surpassed 9,100 accounts, while Snowflake CoWork, an enterprise AI personal work agent, has reached 5,800 accounts globally. “We are trying to take the friction out and help organisations become agentic with these two layers," said Rai.
Snowflake India has created an internal team to demonstrate how agentic workflow works and
guide enterprises on areas where they can quickly move ahead.
