The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a portal for registering and monitoring complaints of sexual harassment of women in the workplace.

She-Box, the centralised portal, was launched under the leadership of Union Minister Annpurna Devi in New Delhi on Thursday.

The ministry mentioned in the release that the portal will serve as a “centralized repository of information related to Internal Committees (ICs) and Local Committees (LCs) formed across the country, encompassing both the government and private sectors."

“This initiative is a critical step forward in providing a more efficient and secure platform for addressing workplace-related sexual harassment complaints,” Devi said.

She added that this step aims to create a safer and more inclusive working environment for women across India. She also mentioned that the personal information of those filing complaints will be kept private, ensuring that complaints can be registered safely.

Women can file complaints, track their status, and ensure timely handling of complaints by ICs on the platform. Additionally, a designated nodal officer will do real-time monitoring of complaints.

With India aiming for "Viksit Bharat” by 2047, women-led development is crucial with a focus on women's safety in workplaces.

The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, has already been laid down. The act aims to protect women from sexual harassment at work and handle their complaints. The SHe-Box portal initiative will help in managing and addressing these complaints.

At the same event, the minister launched the Ministry's new website. The event was attended by Savitri Thakur, Minister of State for Women and Child Development; and Anil Malik, Secretary for Women and Child Development, along with other officials of the Ministry.
