More clusters to open up soon for the MSME sector in Rajasthan

Rajasthan may soon get seven new clusters for medium and small industries. The industries department has proposed a series of measures to ensure development of new clusters over the next one month.

“Development of the clusters will be ensured through a target-based work plan and weekly or fortnight reviews so that new clusters can be developed in the next one month,” said industries commissioner Samit Sharma.

These clusters are proposed under a Center-aided scheme and detailed project report of a few of these has been pending for approval for over an year.

Secretary for Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) Naveen Mahajan and Industries commissioner Samit Sharma took cognisance of the issue during a meeting yesterday.

“Under the central government scheme, 36 clusters have developed in Tamil Naidu, seven in Haryana and many more in several other states. We need to ensure its benefit for industries in Rajasthan,” said Mahajan.

He instructed the officials to submit a report on the constitution of the clusters on a priority basis.

According to department officials, there are nearly 10 such probable sites for cluster development in Rajasthan. Of these, detailed project report of seven has been completed while a couple of more still need to be evaluated. The department, meanwhile, is also keen to get more projects approved from the Center.

The Modified Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (MIIUS) offers upto Rs 50 crore as its 50% share for development of such industrial clusters. Rajasthan so far has only been able to get one such cluster operational.
