SIDBI sets up MSME stall at Kumbh Mela to promote entrepreneurship

SIDBI sets up MSME stall at Kumbh Mela to promote entrepreneurship

Wednesday January 30, 2019 , 2 min Read

Seeking to promote entrepreneurship under the theme ‘Swavalamban’, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has set up a stall at the Kumbh Mela 2019 in Prayagraj, the financial institution said in a release. The Kumbh Mela is being held from January 15 to March 4, 2019.

‘Aaayiye Ganga Nahaaiye Aur Udyami Banker Jaayiye’ (bathe in the Gages and become an entrepreneur) is the tagline of the stall. People who come to the stall can access information about schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), and others.

The stall also features a game called ‘Kaun Banega Entrepreneur?’. Inspired by the TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, this SIDBI quiz will determine if a person can become an entrepreneur or not. Mr Dhandebaaz, the mascot of ‘Swavalamban,’ will also be at the stall to connect and guide budding entrepreneurs,

“Keeping SIDBI Vision 2.0 in mind, we are taking these initiatives to encourage people to venture into entrepreneurship. We believe in a country like India there are vast opportunities to be tapped,” said Mohammad Mustafa, Chairman and Managing Director, SIDBI. “However, directing prospective entrepreneurs to the right avenues is the key and we hope to bridge that gap.”

In the release, SIDBI also said it has reoriented its thrust to MSEs and is doing what is required to make them feel empowered. To infuse entrepreneurship culture, SIDBI has been bringing out the ‘Swavalamban’ print series and three issues have already been published so far. Through this initiative, more than 3,000 respondents have been provided with handholding support in their entrepreneurial journey, the institution said.

To attend to calls of prospective entrepreneurs, a missed call-based response system has also been put in place. Budding entrepreneurs can give a “missed call” to +91 022-3956 0596 and a team of officers will attend to their queries and help them to set up their enterprises.
