Kolkata girl made DCP for six hours after securing 4th rank in ISC exam
Richa Singh, who scored 99.25 percent nationally in the ISC plus two exams, was made the Deputy Commissioner for six hours as a token of appreciation.
Richa Singh (17), a student of GD Birla Centre for Education, Kolkata, made it to the headlines this week after she was made the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for a day in Kolkata. This role was given to her as an appreciation after she bagged 4th rank in the ISC plus two examinations.
The daughter of Rajesh Singh, duty officer of Gariahat police station, Kolkata, Richa scored 99.25 percent in this year’s ISC examination.
Due to her remarkable achievement, she was made the Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (South Eastern Division) on May 8, from 6 am to noon. In this stipulated time, Richa got the opportunity to visit two police stations with her father, where she inspected the operations of the area through the CCTV camera. She also issued commands and ordered the officers to report to her.
Speaking about her most principal order for the day, Richa told The Indian Express,
“Since I was allowed to give an order to any of them, I preferred to order my father to return home early. It was really special. He went back early after taking due permission from his seniors.”
Richa’s father was really touched on listening to her order and therefore he fulfilled it.
An arts student, Richa, while speaking to the Hindustan Times, said she plans to study history or sociology, and also wants to take up the UPSC exams in future.
The ISC exams were held between February 4 and March 25, 2019, and the results were announced on May 8. About 96.52 students cleared the ISC plus two exams, out of which two students shattered all records and made history by scoring 100 percent. This is celebratory as the ISC school board has never witnessed results like this in the past.
