On 29 June 2021, Bengaluru-based Exotel, and contact centre platform- Ameyo, announced a merger. According to the company, this merger would form the largest customer engagement cloud platform in the emerging market. Additionally, it would be present in 60 countries with an ARR of $40 million.
In November 2021, the company also acquired the AI-powered omnichannel cloud Cogno AI. This introduced conversational AI and co-browsing abilities to its platform.
In 2022, Exotel won the ET Startup Award under the Comeback Kid category and the ET Best Tech Brand.
The company’s investors include Steadview Capital, Mumbai Angels, A91 Partners, Blume Ventures, Singularity Growth Opportunities Fund, etc.
In January 2023, the SaaS company also laid off 80 employees following the mid-year review for performance enhancement.
