Headquartered in Mumbai, India, the company allows users to browse for various properties to buy, sell or rent, and locate PGs, co-living spaces, and plots based on their requirements and location.
Having begun as an idea among fellow batchmates at IIT Bombay, who found it difficult to find living spaces near campus, the platform grew. However, in the following years, it saw multiple co-founders quitting and it also witnessed a hacking controversy.
In August 2014, three co-founders quit simultaneously. And in 2015, co-founder and the then CEO Rahul Yadav was fired from the company following tussles with the board, venture capital firm Sequoia Capital and other actions within the company.
In 2020, the company was acquired by REA India. And Dhruv Agarwala is currently the group CEO, with Snehil Gautam as the Group Chief Marketing Officer (Growth & Marketing), Vipin Kumar Singh as the Executive Vice President (Technology), Rohit Hasteer as the Group Chief Human Resource Officer, Vikas Wadhawan as the Group Chief Financial Officer, Sangeet Aggarwal as the Executive Vice President (Product & Design), and Amit Masaldan as the Business Head - Housing.com & Makaan.com.
In 2020, it entered the co-live business and partnered with OYO Life and Zolo.
