MakeMyTrip

MakeMyTrip is an Indian traveltech company based in Gurugram. It was initially launched in the USA in 2000 by Deep Kalra, an alumni of IIM-Ahmedabad. In January 2022, Kalra stepped down from his role as the Group Executive Chairman and is presently acting as the Group Chairman and Chief Mentor.

It provides online based travel services such as flight booking, domestic and international holiday packages, booking train and bus tickets, and hotel reservations.

Over the years, the company has established 14 travel stores across India, along with international offices situated in America and Thailand.

Kalra’s goal was to cater to the overseas Indian community. But in 2005, MakeMyTrip began operating in India, making it possible for Indian travellers to purchase flight tickets online.

In 2020, the company went public on NASDAQ. In 2016, MakeMyTrip and the Ibibo Group merged through a stock transaction, with MakeMyTrip shareholders having 60% stake while the Ibibo Group shareholders had a 40% stake.
