Phonepe

Founded in December 2015 by Sameer Nigam, Rahul Chari, and Burzin Engineer, PhonePe is a popular digital payments platform in India that allows users to make online transactions, including money transfers, bill payments, mobile recharges, and more.

Starting initially as a mobile payment app on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform, PhonePe was acquired in April 2016 by Flipkart, an Indian e-commerce company and a subsidiary of Walmart Inc.

PhonePe also supports QR code-based payments, allowing users to make transactions by scanning QR codes at supported merchants' locations, allows users to recharge prepaid mobile numbers, pay insurance premiums for various insurance providers and pay utility bills like landline bills, electricity bills, gas bills, water bills, etc.

Users can shop on various e-commerce platforms and pay using PhonePe. It also offers the option to buy and sell gold digitally.
