Best of Weekender: From a fantasy cricket app to a homegrown brand making alcoholic beverages from fruits, and more

Wine = grapes. But Maharashtra-based Priyanka Save, Founder and Director of Hill Zill Wines, is on a mission to change this idea with her homegrown fruit wine brand Fruzzanté.

Priyanka collaborated with renowned fruit wine-maker Dominic Rivard from Canada to produce the world’s first chikoo wine, which was launched in 2017 after years of perfecting the method. This unique beverage was initially retailed exclusively in Mumbai.

fruzzante

The positive response spurred the Fruzzanté founders to create other sparkling alco-beverages by fermenting fruits like pineapples, strawberries, starfruits, and mangoes. The success of the fruity wines led the founders to launch a mead brand, Arkä.

Casa Decor

Casa Decor is an amalgamation of culture and lifestyle, with a focus on transforming spaces and moods and changing lives.

Home sweet home turned haven amid the pandemic, and more and more people are investing in upgrading the look and feel of their homes.

Noida-based home décor startup Casa Décor, known for its handcrafted yet functional pieces, found itself well placed to meet this altered market scenario.

Casa Décor offers sustainably-made handicraft home decor items sourced directly from Indian artisans, and available anywhere in the globe through its online presence.

cricket

In a land where cricket is akin to religion, the ability to pick one’s own team of cricketing giants makes one feel god-like. This is, however, only possible through fantasy cricket apps.

Ahmedabad-based Yudiz Solutions developed 11Wickets in 2013, which has since earned the title of being India’s fastest growing fantasy sports website.

Co-founded by Chirag Leuva, Pratik Patel, and Bharat Patel, who are also its CEOs, and with Suraj Chokhani helming operations as the Director, 11Wickets is a fantasy cricket and football gaming app, where one can create their own teams by selecting players from line-ups provided, as they would in a real match.

Third Space Collective

Third Space Collective

Adapting to change is the only constant in life, and nobody follows this mantra better than creative thinkers.

‘Rat’, a Zoom theatrical produced by Delhi-based group Third Space Collective, is a great example of this. Planned as a physical object theatre performance scheduled for May 2021, the production was digitally reinvented in the light of the second wave of COVID-19.

Playing till September 12, this virtual experimental show shuffles between recorded footage and live performances that take place in intimate breakout rooms on Zoom.

heart health

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among men and women globally. A major cause of heart disease is silent systemic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is associated with cardiovascular disease more than anything else.

Some of the root causes of heart disease and inflammation are a high sugar diet, a diet low in fibre and healthy fats, poor balance between omega 3 and omega 6, oxidative stress, nutrient deficiencies, high stress, poor sleep, poor exercise, and chronic liver congestion.

Read here to know some of the root causes before considering what you might do to support a healthy heart.
