“They don’t know, that we know, they know we know!”

Putting an end to a lot of speculations over the years, the much-awaited reunion of the decade is finally coming to our screens this summer.

The beloved NBC sitcom Friends, is making a comeback as an unscripted special in May 2020. HBO confirmed the special on Friday and said that all the 10 seasons of the sitcom and the special will air on its upcoming OTT platform HBO Max.

Regarded by most fans as “The One Where They All Get Back Together”, the star cast of the show announced the reunion on Instagram saying, “It’s happening!”

All the six lead actors  – Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Mathew Perry, and David Schwimmer –  have confirmed that they will return for the special. Further, the show’s creator Marta Kauffman and David Crane will also join them.

Our day couldn’t have gotten better.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Reilly, the Chief Content Officer at HBO Max, said, “It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real-time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”

The special will be taped at Stage 24 of the Warner Bros set in Burbank, where the entire show was shot back in the day. The cast, who all negotiated together, will earn more than double their former per-episode fee for the reunion, and will be paid between $2.5 million and $3 million for the special.

Last year,  several media reports hinted at a potential reunion when Aniston, who portrays Rachel Green on the show, told Ellen DeGeneres about a possible new Friends project.

“We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying. We’re working on something,” Aniston had said at the time.

Friends first aired in 1994 on NBC and ran for 10 seasons until 2004.
