‘Seek happiness in whatever you do. Don’t think of the risks’: Savitha Kuttan, CEO, Omnicuris

The Proust Questionnaire is a questionnaire about one’s personality. It has its origins in a parlour game popularised by Marcel Proust, the French essayist, who believed that, in answering these questions, an individual reveals his or her true nature.

Savitha Kuttan, CEO, Omnicuris spent over a decade working as a healthcare consultant in USA and Europe. She returned to India to take on the task of improving the quality of healthcare in the country.

Founded in 2016, Omnicuris has tied up with various state governments, leading medical associations and institutes across the country with the primary goal of improving the quality of healthcare through continuous reskilling and updation of medical knowledge of our health professionals.

This initiative was launched with an aim to address the pressing need of helping doctors to stay abreast with the latest developments in the field of medicine through online tools and practices. Omnicuris has trained over 1 lakh doctors across 15 states in different specialties including cardiology, Oncology, Diabetes, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, among others. To help doctors avail the best of knowledge, they have partnered with pioneers in healthcare for various specialties such as MUHS, Tata Memorial Centre, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Science, among others. Here are Savitha's responses to our Proust questionnaire...


What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Is the freedom to do things that you love.


What is your greatest fear?

Failing to create an impact as women entrepreneur.


What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

In the flurry of becoming a responsible and accomplished entrepreneur, there are times when I become a bit harsh and judgemental. I would like to change that in me.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Lack of empathy and complete disregard for others is something that I despise.


Which living person do you most admire?

Sudha Murthy, for her grace, guts and gumption towards sticking to what’s right.


What is your greatest extravagance?

Sarees are an indulgence and extravagance at the same time, to that extent that it has become an addiction.





What is your current state of mind?

My current and perpetual state of mind is to come up with ways to innovate our products to create an impact that is deeper, faster and wider.


What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

The onus to be all forgiving and patient is an overrated virtue as I’d rather seize every that comes my way.


On what occasion do you lie?

If I have to give critical feedback to an employee who can’t take it.


What do you most dislike about your appearance?

My hair is the cause of great cause of distress in my life- there are days when it is never in perfect shape.


Which living person do you most despise?

There is no particular person that I despise- it’s more of the type of people- and I hate slow people.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Honesty and the willingness to achieve greatness are appreciated by me.


What is the quality you most like in a woman?

The ability to rule the world and yet, keep femininity intact is something that I admire, to the greatest extent.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

A simple term such as must, is overused by me to the greatest extent.


What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My daughter is the greatest love of my life. She has humbled me and grounded me from the day she was born.


Which talent would you most like to have?

The talent to sway the masses into taking up a good habit or opting for a good cause is something that I’d like to have.


If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

There is no one thing but many things that I would like to change or improve and I am constantly working on them.


What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I am not someone who prefers harping about her achievements and hence, would let my actions speak more.


If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

 Myself- I wouldn’t want to be anyone else but me.


Where would you most like to live?

I would like to be in the place where my heart is. My heart lies with my family friends and employees.

What is your most treasured possession?

My collection of antique sarees, some of them also belong to my mom and grandma. 


What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Living life without any objective.

What is your favourite occupation?

The profession which challenges me every day is my favourite occupation.

What is your most marked characteristic?

I never lose my patience no matter what.

What do you most value in your friends?

Loyalty and the ease of pouring your heart out without the fear of being judged.


Who are your favourite writers?

Sudha Murthy, Eve Ensler and Sylvia Plath.


Who is your hero of fiction?

Superman. 


Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I just adore Smt. Indira Gandhi. She had a multi-faceted personality, and was an obedient daughter, responsible mother, great visionary, nationalist and a strong- willed personality.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My employees. They are real heroes getting us to stardom every single day with their performance.


What is your favourite name?

My own name Savitha, which means the sun, the impeller or begetter.


What is it that you most dislike?

Incompetence and arrogance put me off.


What is your greatest regret?

Not spending enough time with my daughter.


How would you like to die?

Knowing that I have done everything I could in the time given to me with best of my abilities.

What is your favourite journey?

This journey of life.

What is your motto?

My aim is to seek happiness in whatever I do, irrespective of the risks attached. As the famous poet Emily Dickinson once stated “The mere sense of living is joy enough.”
