Dharma, an Abu Dhabi-based travel management platform, has raised $4.7 million in a pre-series A funding round led by San Francisco-based Convivialite Ventures. This brings Dharma's total funding to $10 million.

The round saw participation from marketplace-focused FJ Labs, Equinox, and Soul Cycle fitness club owner Stephen Ross, according to Wamda.

Mubadala-backed Shorooq Partners, Matt Higgins of Shark Tank, Eric Cantona of football, Goodwater, and Skift founder Rafat Ali are among the investors and angels.

The company plans to use the funds to expand into various sectors, including culinary, sports, fashion, and lifestyle tourism, to enhance their offerings.

Charaf El Mansouri, CEO and Co-founder of Dharma, believes the future of travel is centered around passion. "If for the past 50 years people have travelled for the where, the next 50 years people will travel for the why. That’s the future Dharma is enabling,” he said.

Founded in 2018 by Nisma Benani, Brice Carpentier, El Mansouri and Leah Howe, Dharma offers trips hosted by influencers and brands, has relocated from New York and Marrakesh to Abu Dhabi.

With this latest round, Dharma says it has raised a total of $10 million in equity funding.

The funding news is followed by its recent partnership with Paramount Global to launch “Paris in Emily,” the first official travel experience for the Netflix series.
