Every Indian worth his Bollywood masala can identify at least three celebrities on any given page 3 segments. In our nation of idol worshippers and icon lovers Ramit Bhel has identified a thirst in everyone for their five minutes of fame. This Young Entrepreneur has called on the power of media forces that be and created a truly novel entity.

He told us more about his concept and how it came to be. He says “Mayhem Media Pvt. Ltd (MMPL) is an interactive marketing and media company. We specialize in connecting people with the right brand – be it nightlife, fashion, music, beverages, fitness, or travel. We provide a platform that puts the spotlight on the layman whereby enabling him/her to get connected with the right brand. We pride ourselves in marketing the right brand to the right customer.”

“MMPL’s maiden venture Blingbees.com is India’s favorite EXCLUSIVE Nightlife Website! Blingbees provides a platform to showcase the most exclusive photographs taken at all the hip events and venues across the country where you party! Are you tired of seeing the same old "celebs" on Page 3? So are we and that's why we decided to create Blingbees – a digital revolution to help us create our own celebrities!”

“Yes, both Mayhem Media Pvt. Ltd and the brand Blingbees are registered and trademarked. The idea behind launching Blingbees is to provide an extended platform for brands to advertise online/offline. We have a network of photographers in different cities in India, who click posed pictures of the layman partying at different clubs and venues. These people then come on the Website to view their pictures, hence, driving traffic to the Website. We leverage these traffic stats to sign up with brands to advertise online and also provide them with offline ad opportunities by way of special Blingbees events.”

“The idea came to me while I was working in NewYork. I was hanging out at a bar and someone asked me to pose for the camera and asked me to check out my picture online. And I really thought this would work in India. We really brainstormed for a name for the Website and wanted something young, fresh, and cool and finally came up with Blingbees.”

You might be thinking that as an average Joe you may not have much to offer or even be noticed by Blingbees, but Ramit says otherwise. He says “The idea is to find a gap in the market that needs help. There is no similar service in India that offers the options that Blingbees does; the layman does not mind getting noticed and Blingbees provides them with the exact platform and ego boost that they need. It’s a win win situation for both. Every person in the country who goes out partying benefits from Blingbees.”

“We generate revenue via providing online/offline customized advertising solutions to brands. And there is no other Website that does that.”

For those that missed out on getting their pictures taken the first time around there is a spot of good news. Ramit announced their latest developments saying “We are currently working on Blingbees 2.0 – a total revamp of the existing Website. This will have a lot more interactive options to drive more traffic and also offer more segmented stats and opportunities for brands to leverage from.”

He believes that –“Doing something yourself is more fulfilling and allows you to be as creative as possible. It pays better and is more fun.”

Ramit is also candid about where they stand today. He says “We are still undergoing the challenge – it’s been less than a year since we launched the Website. The biggest challenge is to convince everyone that this concept works and make them believe in its strength. We try and make the whole Blingbees experience for both the consumers and brands as professional and smooth as possible.”

Ramit rues not investing more in SEO and marketing efforts initially but

He has bounced back from the setback with style and panache. He related their biggest achievements saying “When we signed up with NIKON as one of our sponsors and making them believe in the concept.”

“We were nominated as one of TATA NEN’s hottest startups. In addition, we have been covered by several publications like alootechiw.com, Vogue, Tim Out, Deccan Chronicle, Indian Express, Asian Age, etc.”

Ramit believes in entrepreneurship and states “The fact that I really do believe in the power of Blingbees and the idea. I know that people will find value in it. Encouragement from friends and family is very important.”

He summed up his thoughts on what it takes to make it big saying “Keep the faith. It will take time, but it will happen.”

Yourstory wishes Ramit and Blingbees success in reinventing the concept of celebrity in India and certainly will look out for them next time we go partying.
