Entrepreneurship Development Programme held in Chandigarh

Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) on behalf of Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in active association with Dept. of Industries & Commerce, Khadi & Village Industries Board and Punjab National Bank organized an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) from UT Chandigarh and Punjab was held at Gandhi Smarak Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Dr. Vandana Disodia, HCS, Director of Industries, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function. While emphasising on the role of the scheme in promoting entrepreneurship in the rural and urban areas she stressed on the need to implement the scheme, and requested the implementing agencies KVIC and Bankers to give priority to the scheme as this is now the only scheme under which support for establishing new ventures will be provided.She said, “The scheme is a tool for uplifting women and minorities.” She even appreciated the role played by KVIC in Promoting industries in rural areas and generation of employment among the educated youth. A K Garg, Nodal Officer, PMEGP, Punjab & Chandigarh gave a brief presentation on PMEGP which was launched by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on August 15, 2008 for the benefit of youth from urban and rural areas. It is for the first time that 25% and 35% subsidy would be available to the beneficiaries starting their industries, business in rural areas; and 15% to 25% in urban area and promoters contribution would be only 5%.- 10%.

H K Arora, Lead District Manager conveyed his blessings to the beneficiaries and assured them full support from the banks.Paramjit Singh, Principal Consultant, RCED talked about the topics covered during 15 Days of the programme. The purpose of the training programme was to provide those inputs which will enable the beneficiaries to implement and run their ventures successfully. Paramjit Singh conveyed thanks to the Faculty Members from various fields for imparting training to the beneficiaries.
