"A Steady Success"
Ten years ago, a software engineer was advised by his best friend to start a venture. Together they loaned out a small sum from a bank and bought a computer to start their dream project. Little did they know that they would turn out to be such a big success in the years to come. Today, not only has their venture, the B Square Group, registered by the domain name "BSquareGroup.com", turned out to be a leader in the corporate group; but also, the two friends are a happily married couple!
Meet Mr. Nambiar, the founder of the B Square Group which caters to services from software development and software solutions to advertising, branding and even booking tickets for IPL matches! The venture was launched formally back in 2000 after P.K.D. Nambiar realised that he had a knack or marketing and business. Since 17, he had already been engaged in business simultaneously with his academics and so he heard entrepreneurship calling.
Come August, and his company will celebrate having completed ten glorious years in the market. P.K.D. Nambiar had dived into the "Dot Com" boom, later shifting to software development. He says, "I did not just want to rely on one particular area for my business..... because if that would have collapsed, so would have my business."
Today, his company addresses to over 500 clients from all across the globe. Back from the days when he used to work from home with only his computer as his office and he being the only employee, today he has offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Ludhiana, Washington and Chicago; and about 60 employees! "And all our employees are highly qualified engineers."
"Knowing your customer is very important. We do not aim to cash in the money he has in his pocket – we aim to increase it. This means he stays fully satisfied and never leaves us." says P.K.D. Nambiar. "We have a very customer friendly, tailormade and practical approach. This has helped us chart our journey so far" says P.K.D. Nambiar with a satisfied smile.His group attends to customers from all across the globe. Whether it be the US, the UK or South Africa or even the Middle East, his clientelle has a wide base. "And almost 95% of our clients never have not left us!"
Looking back at the journey he has scripted so far, P.K.D. Nambiar says that he is satisfied from his achievements so far and he never thought of giving up. He says that their growth has been largely slow but very steady. This, however did allow him to steadily diversify into various fields. "We want to grow bigger in the coming years. We want to hire more expirienced faces and even expand to other areas in the market and other countries as well."
His venture has not just been notching success in the corporate fields but also in the social areas. P.K.D. Nambiar and his organisation have been recognised for their environmental initiatives and the work they have done tendering for cancer affected children.
"Financial set up in India does not allow a young entrepreneur to fully spread his wings. I think our country needs to realise that it is entrepreneurs who are going to generate jobs and thus we should be wholeheartedly helped!"
As we draw to close our interaction, YourStory.in asks Mr. Nambiar is he has any tips to share with budding entrepreneurs? "Patience has helped me come so far and I don't regret or fret anything..... Also dream! But dream practically! And for success it is very essential that you don't realise on theoretical knowledge of the books..... that theory will not help you get success practically!"
