With an undesirable situation persisting in the employment scenario and the working sectors of our country, ROPE (Rural Outsourced Production Enterprise) is a company facilitating the growth of small and medium enterprises and enhancement of livelihoods of the rural poor. Incubated and supported by the TeNeT group of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, it focuses on natural fiber crafts and products made from banana bark fiber, korai grass, elephant grass, bamboo and coir.Currently operating in the state of Tamil Nadu, this social enterprise promotes the culture of rural artisan products while employing full-time over 500 rural workers manufacturing more than one million handmade units per year. The products can also be custom chosen by its customers.
