Kerala University invites entries for Business Plan contest

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the Kerala University is organising the Business Plan Competition-2011 in association with the Department of Science and Technology of the Central Government. The competition is mainly intended for technology and MBA students of the various universities in the State.

 

The preparation of the plan will help students to utilise their ideas and talent to develop their own ventures in future. The first, second and third prize winners will get a prize money of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The last date for registration and submission of the draft plan is January 15, 2011. The prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for January 25 at Sri Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering. The Business Plan Competition is an annual event since 2008, aimed at providing an integrative learning experience for participating students. The B-Plan competition reflects real opportunities, providing the participants with an opportunity to learn about venture creation process through their team’s efforts. The B-Plan of the new venture creation will be presented before a panel of experts from the academia and industry.B-Plan can be called a dream model of one’s business. A document which explains the business objectives, tactics, marketing and financial forecast. The mission of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell is to develop an institutional mechanism at the university level to create an entrepreneurial culture among students and alumni of affiliated institutions, to spread entrepreneurship through education, research and training, to identify, train, motivate and develop scientific-technocrat entrepreneurs from Kerala for generation of wealth and employment for the country.Objectives of the cell include promotion of strong entrepreneurship among engineers, managers and science students, promotion of entrepreneurship among relevant sectors in the State, collaboration with other national organisations and institutions, organising entrepreneurship development and awareness programmes and undertaking research studies to identify high science and technology areas having entrepreneurship opportunities.
