Board of Innovation was founded by Nick De Mey and Philippe De Ridder. This Antwerp, Belgium based venture has developed a unique method to visualize, analyze and innovate business models. I'm Nick De Mey, founder of the Board of Innovation. I've a background in product development but focus now on the next step: innovating services and business models. I'm passionate about trends and digital media.

Board of Innovation is an international office specialized in business model innovation. We help organizations innovate, and develop new Business Models. Board of Innovation has its home base in the heart of the creative city of Antwerp, Belgium. Board of Innovation has developed a unique method to visualize, analyze and innovate business models. The 16 Business Model Blocks are available in different formats, and are used by multinationals, entrepreneurs and universities all around the world.

Within our clients there are both start-ups and large corporates. Although the way we interact with every organization might differ, the type of questions are similar: Exploring new opportunities to make business innovation happen!

Why the focus on business plans?

Too many people are just looking for small incremental changes to their products. On the other hand we're living in a society based on services. So there is a mismatch with the offering of innovation offices and the current state of the economy. Also the rise of the digital consumer has lead to many new ways of doing business. We believe that many companies can learn form these new experiments.

How are the tools from Board of Innovation meant to be used?

During the full innovation process we use many tools. Ranging from brainstorm techniques to financial calculators. But since we missed valuable tools to explore new business ideas, we created our own visual brainstorm kit to do so. When people have a new idea they can use our visual language to design several new business model scenarios. By mapping out the relations with all the different stakeholders, people get a better understanding of ways to make money with their idea. We mainly focus on the revenue model with our tools. But when we move further on in the process we will work on the other aspects as well.
