Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Active: Talk while you jog

A bit strange as it might seem, Sony brings out a phone aimed specifically at two kinds of people: the joggers and the profuse sweaters. Xperia Active is said to be resistant to the harsh outdoor forces; Active is dust-proof, water resistant, has a scratch resistant multi-touch screen and incorporates “wet finger tracking”. It allows you to surf the net while you’re in the gym or talk while you’re jogging. One area or time where we were sure to be without the gadget isn’t mobile-proof any longer; we’re still not sure if it’s kosher to talk on the phone while you’re in the gym but this phone is targeted towards the fitness-oriented members of the society. Active also has a built in barometer and a compass. On the screen, heart rate and pulse can be tracked as well.
The phone is packed with many useful features like 8.0 MP camera and Secondary camera with capacitive screen with 16M colors. It offers Expandable memory up to 32GB. The phone runs on Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread), 1GHz Scorpion processor. Priced at about Rs. 20,000 in India, the smartphone is packed with features. With a 1200 mAh Li-Ion Standard Battery, it has a music play of 25 hours. Alongside the Active, Sony also released the Xperia Ray which has failed to create much of a stir owing to the fact that the Ray doesn’t provide anything new other than a smart sleek look.
