Sridhar, please tell us what ePax Techsoft is all about.

ePax Techsoft is about developing cutting edge technology products. Our current product is the School and College Management System which automates students’ and institutions’ activities and provides significant benefits to Institutions, Parents and Students.

School/College Management System is an intelligent, powerful, fully integrated, online and mobile based solution to enhance the quality of education and administration in schools. We also have plans to foray into e-tutoring, software services and project consultancy for other industries.

ePax Techsoft provides education software on SAAS platform which reduces the overall cost of ownership for the clients. We also provide mobile based features thereby increasing the target audience drastically.

How did the business idea for your venture come about and how much capital was required to implement the business idea?

When we looked into the way many schools / colleges were managing their day to day operations, we realized there is a need to automate most of these operations there by saving lot of maintenance expenses for the institutions.

Also, we felt that parents need to be better informed about their child’s academic progress, events etc., Students also need help in getting important topics to focus on, while preparing for the exams. We started of this venture with an initial investment of 5 lakhs.

What is your target audience?

Our target Audience includes Management, Administrators, Parents, Students of Schools and Colleges in India and Abroad. And we target educational institutes both in India and abroad.

Tell us about your background.

I have spent more than 14 years in the IT industry in Marketing, Client interaction, architecture, design, development of Java and Microsoft -based applications.

My co founder Nagarjuna Chowkilla who is also the Director of epax techsoft has spent around 12 years in the IT industry in Marketing, Client interaction, architecture, design, development of Java and Microsoft based applications.

We have known each other for over 20years and hence we got together to form ePax Techsoft.

How big is the team behind ePax Techsoft? Are you looking at hiring?

Currently, we have three promoters all of whom are highly experienced in software architecture, design, development of products and services.

We are looking at hiring smart and efficient candidates with 2 to 5 yrs experience in Java, spring, Hibernate, MySQL, JSF and other open source technologies.

Where do you see your industry and your venture five years from now?

We have noticed that a lot of day to day operations in educational institutions can be automated and mobile based in the near future. This can be done in all major cities and towns as well. This automation would make the administration of these educational institutes highly efficient and productive. This will benefit our venture in expanding our business.

How has the journey been so far? And what are the challenges you faced?

The initial feedback from all the schools we have contacted so far has been excellent and extremely encouraging. The very thought of automating the educational institutions thereby improving their efficiency and providing better education to students is very motivating.

However, the education sector in India is highly price sensitive and it takes time to convince the management in investing in software.

With our main product being the School and College Management System along with mobile-based services and software services, we are currently planning to strengthen our sales and marketing team in India and USA.
