Kaspersky: Viruses and spyware are the worst threat

What are the most common reasons for IT-disasters in companies? The Russian security-company Kaspersky conducted a survey among 1300 IT-experts in eleven different countries, among them also India. The result: In 61 percent of the cases, IT-disasters were caused by classical malware, such as viruses or spyware. On second rank, there are spam-mails (56 percent) and phishing-attacks (26 percent). Data was lost in 31 percent of the malware attacks; in ten percent of the cases, important confidential considering the company was lost.

Considering the high threat level, 50 percent of the IT-experts in companies believe that their budget for IT-security isn't enough; they request an increase by 25 percent in order to close security leaks.
