The society undergoes evolution and takes up different forms. India is considered to be a country with warm people wherein socialization(not virtual) comes naturally. It’s a part of the Indian culture to gel with people living near you but with the advent of the influence of the western culture, things have changed. The westernized winds have brought in ideas of individuality and solitariness. In many of the urban areas, people don’t know who is living next door.Be that as it may, the need for a neighbor remains. There are many things for which one requires the help of people living around them. Looking into this problem, Amir Valani and Mukesh Kumar Singh have tried to come up with a solution. Amir Valani, who has multiple start-up experience, is the CEO and Mukesh Kumar, who has worked with leading technological giants, is the CTO. They’re launching a new service called “KnockUs”. KnockUs allows the user to connect to their neighbors and provides the user a platform where he can know more about his neighbors and get information like better living tips, emergency information, local news and events, etc and the user is always in control of who can view their profile.
The following are the features which are available on the site:
It allows the user to join/create neighborhood based on apartment, street address or zip code.
Update tab – Here, the user can discuss local issues, share local news/events, plan events/parties, borrow items (for example books, games, etc.), and find local information.
My Home tab – User can personalize his/her home by selecting specific pet using “Set my pet activity”, by providing family tree, and by uploading his/her home image. User can also visit/knock other neighbor’s home and chat with them.
Notice board – With this feature, the user can create notice for important items such as inform emergency issues, maintenance due and neighborhood meeting.
With all these features packed into KnockUs, the concept can get big and the service is likely to find many takers. KnockUs is all set for launch and it would be interesting to keep an eye on their growth curve.
