Friday September 23, 2011 , 2 min Read

Bushirt

Ludhiana based startup Bushirt.comStarted as a platform for selling t-shirts, the portal, www.bushirt.com aims to transform t-shirts into a medium for communicating emotions, which they call ‘bushirt’. “Each and every design on Bushirt symbolizes emotions which we witness in our day to day life. If you are happy, we have a Bushirt and if you are sad, we have one for that as well”, says Niraj Rampuria, founder, Bushirt. They also offer customized t-shirts for corporates, schools and other organizations.

To design the concept, create the website and to put up the infrastructure, it took them almost 6 months. It is a simple model where they provide a platform to out-of-the-box thinkers, graffiti lovers and designers with an emotional bent, “You can design and earn money while creating a name of your own by just being emotional and creative. The selected designs are given lifetime royalties of up to 20% as well as an upfront payment. By giving designers their due credits and giving people the power to decide what emotion they want to wear; Bushirt aims to democratize the world of t-shirts.”, says Niraj.

The initial investment for setting up the whole platform and partnering with vendors came upto Rs 5 lakhs which was funded from own savings of the founder and some help from friends and family. Started in August 2011, the portal already has more than 100 active users. However, one need not be a registered user to shop from Bushirt. Their customer bases ranges from 18 to 35 yrs. “We get buyers from all overIndia, fromJammuin the north toWarangalin the south.”, adds Niraj.

Given the great response that they have received so far, they are now looking at moving closer to their customers by tying up with youth centric cafes, book stores, coffee houses and other retail outlets.
