The Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at IIM-Ahmedabad announces the list of startups entering its 2011 class of iAccelerator program. iAccelerator is a 3 month residential accelerator program for ICT entrepreneurs. iAccelerator offers INR 5 lakhs in seed funding to each selected startup in addition to technology and business mentorship. This is the third edition of the program and will run from 01 Nov to 31 Jan.Here is a primer to the list of participating startups:
Anaya Labs
A visual content creator is always hassled by the unorganized and inefficient way by which reviews are done today. A textual feedback mechanism is very ineffective for visual assets. Anaya Labs team has created a media collaboration software which allows the users to communicate directly on top of the media in the form of drawing, text, audio, video annotations and give a rich feedback to the creators.
Alma Connect
Alma Connect is an intelligent research based platform - tracking and providing real-time benefits to alumni-students-faculties and management of an institute.
Mango Reader
This team believes that the current e-books are a replica of print copies and don’t utilize the power of latest technologies (HTML5) and media (tablets). Mango Reader is a web-based, cloud e-reader that adds interactivity, reader engagement and fun to the reading experience via images, videos, voice over, comments, quizzes, annotations, maps, ads, etc.
Mobiotics - TV Buddy
TV has remained isolated from mobile and social networks thus making the experience less engaging for new generation viewers. TV Buddy is an app-based platform solution that adds social/interactive element to the TV watching experience, especially for the Indian audience.
Ideophone
Ideophone addresses the information and safety needs of Indian commuters by offering location-based mobile apps with cross-product features for inter-modal transport. Applications include a digital meter app to know whether a fare meter is tampered with, one-touch SOS, smart wake-up service for rail commuters and an app that provides details on bus routes and bus numbers for Indian cities.
Votodo
There is a lot of focus on what people are doing or what they have already done. But there is no easy way to find out what others are going to do. Votodo is a Social Todo List. It solves that problem by creating a platform to easily share and discover things to do, find like-minded people, make better decisions, and be more productive.
Also, three other startups in stealth mode are a part of the program this year.
