Sunglass.io Raises USD 1.7 Million from General Catalyst Partners,Mitch Kapor And Others
Sunglass.io, a web-based collaborative design solution provider founded by two TED fellows, Nitin Rao and Kaustuv DeBiswas, has raised USD 1.7 million in seed funding from General Catalyst Partners, Mitch Kapor, Lerer Ventures, Maynard Webb and others.
Sunglass.io offers real time interactivity between product designers and architects regardless of their location. Speaking with YourStory.in Nitin Rao shared, "The money will go towards improving the team’s core product and the underlying infrastructure. We're growing our teams in San Francisco and New Delhi and committed to build out the Sunglass ecosystem and create value for the end user across the Player, Stage and App Store."
Commenting on the whole fund-raising process, Nitin said, "We sought out investors who are willing to take a long-term view, mission-aligned with Sunglass and brought experience building billion-dollar product companies. And we're fortunate to be backed by investors who share a passion for democratizing access to technology - given a projected USD 15 billion market and the opportunity to directly impact the lives of millions of designers, and enable a key lever of productivity. As Chris Anderson of Wired told us, ‘if we're all designers, we might as well be good at it’.”
Leading established and independent developers are building apps for the Sunglass platform that will be released in the coming months. “For instance, within this month, we'll have early versions of finite element analysis, computation analysis and photorealistic rendering all seamlessly available on-demand through the familiar web browser,” informed Nitin.
Led by BITSian Chanakya Bhardwaj, Sunglass.io is expanding team in Delhi, and is actively seeking to recruit team members who share their passion for hard engineering problems and speedy delivery.
