Hackers from Bangalore, Your Chance to Reinvent Internet on SMS
55444 Hackathon at Innoz, Bangalore, 14-15 July
We first covered Innoz in October 2008, and they have come a long way since. The initial four member team has now grown to 40 members strong! They devoted considerable time and efforts on building their flagship product SMSGyan, which is now India’s largest offline search platform with over 2 million search queries per day. SMSGyan has been recently rebranded to 55444. Till date, they have answered 500 million queries, with 60% of the queries coming from tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
Having been in the mobile sector for quite some time, the founding team at Innoz has understood the mobile segment considerably well, while working with various OEMs, Telcos and other partners from this ecosystem.
In Deepak Ravindran’s words, to foster the hacking culture, Innoz is organizing a Hackathon on 14-15th July at their Bangalore office. The Hackathon is focused on bringing together hackers from all over to leverage the 55444 platform and build meaningful apps. Some of the apps that have already been built on the platform can be seen on 55444.
The “55444 Hackathon” is a 2 day event and the hacking will go on for 36 hours. The event is supported by Seedfund, and some startup ecosystem veterans will address the hackers during the Hackathon. “With this event we are targeting people who would like to create something of value for the larger community, as there is so much to do using the 55444 platform”, says Deepak Ravindran, CEO, Innoz.
Deepak added, “Developers can build apps and monetize them on a larger scale because of the traction on our search platform. Even though the margins are low, the volumes are very high.”
So, what are you waiting for? If you are a techie, and love to build something meaningful, then do not miss the 55444 Hackathon at Innoz’s office on 14th July. Register here.
