Simplilearn.com receives funding from IUVP; Aims to Increase Courses Offered
Bangalore based Simplilearn, a startup in online education and training for professional certification courses, is looking to significantly expand on its current portfolio of certification courses. The Company currently offers 50 courses and is planning to increase it to 100 courses by the end of financial year 2012-13. As part of its expansion plans, Simplilearn.com will be aiming at doubling its workforce
to strengthen its core certification-education platform and will add people across various levels in the organization. Recently, Simplilearn.com raised capital from IndoUS Venture Partners (IUVP) to fund its expansion plans in offering world class professional certification training.“We have created a certification-education platform and business model that is capable of delivering high quality education for professional certification courses on a cost effective and highly scalable virtual delivery model that is a unique blend of online and offline channels. Although we are growing profitably, we have opted for the IndoUS Venture Partners (IUVP) funding primarily because of their reputation of working closely with entrepreneurs and helping them build strong scalable companies. We believe our partnership with IUVP will help us achieve our mission to become the largest online destination for professional certification courses accepted globally,” said Krishna Kumar, CEO & Founder, Simplilearn.com.
Commenting on the Simplilearn.com investment, Rajesh Raju, Managing Director, IUVP said, “As we looked at a number of education business models over the last many years, the challenge has been in finding an effective education delivery model that can scale. We believe Simplilearn.com provides a unique combination of a proven and effective classroom training model and a highly scalable online education delivery model. In addition, the company's sales, marketing and support activities are done purely online making it a highly economical and scalable model." He further added, "We are excited to be partnering with a successful serial entrepreneur who has achieved significant traction in a relatively short period.” Rajesh Raju has joined the board of the Company following IUVP’s investment.
Vani Kola, Managing Director, India, IUVP, stated, “Krishna is an experienced and well-rounded entrepreneur and we are pleased with his choice to work with us. Simplilearn.com is on a high growth trajectory and poised to become the market leader.”
