Exotel Launches Android App for its Customers; App Built by Student Intern

Exotel, the Cloud based Telephony solution has launched an Android app. Using this app, existing customers of Exotel can can login using their exotel ID's, make and track calls and SMS's made by the company using the app. This is an internet based app and Exotel has also extended support for API integration 

with the client's CRMs.The app was made by their student intern Bhargav Golla from BITS Pilani as part of his PS II – 6 months internship program. "I was interested in Mobile App development since my sophomore year and have done few mashups so far. My idea 'E-Auto Rickshaw' which was also a Mobile App, was featured on YourStory's Cloud Conclave 2011. That interest drove me to become a Google Summer of Code 2012 Developer, where my project was to develop a mobile app for Apache Software Foundation's PhotArk project. And during my internship at Exotel, I enhanced my skills of Android App Development."

"After taking the requirements on day 2 of my internship, I went about testing various models of implementation viz., a web-based app, Phonegap app etc., and finally settled on native Android app. After taking due help from my tech mentors at Exotel, I developed APIs for myself and used them in my app to build it to the stage it is now. With their help, I could make this app as an additional feature in Exotel's arsenal," said Bhargav.
