Paul Singh, Partner at 500 Startups is no stranger to India. Hailing from India but having brought up in the States, Paul has been a pivotal figure in the success of 500 Startups and as the accelerator spreads its wings into more continents, Paul's ties with India has become stronger. Frequenting India every two months since the past year, 500 Startups has aggressive plans in India for which they hired Pankaj Jain full time as well. Having made four announcements in a day a few weeks ago, the game has just begun. Here,we catch up with Paul to know about their investment philosophy, the trends they've seen across geographies and views on the startup ecosystem in India.

"The market is changing from being more service oriented to product oriented as we are seeing more and more product startups," believes Paul and this will usher in the age of Tech Product Startups in India (Check out our Tech30 Report). More and more businesses are coming online in India and funds will be required to fund this growth. "We're at an inflection point wherein the last 18 months have been very exciting and the next 3-5 years will make it for India," says Paul and is also confident of exits soon.
