Mrinal Srivastava, previously Associate Director at Indian School of Business, quit his job to take the entrepreneurial route. Along with a passionate team (Techpreneurs India), he has launched Zammrs, a social platform for public discussions and sharing of ideas. "It allows people to voice their opinions and have a discussion in a more focused manner," says Mrinal. "Currently people do that on other networks but the views are very fragmented. We're trying to segregate them and have a structured discussion that can lead to a thorough solution," he adds.
The most recent discussion that has gripped the nation was the shocking rape case in Delhi. The nation has come together and protested vehemently. Zammrs played a role here and organized a spirited Protest march on Delhi-Gang-Rape and a ‘Speak Up Campaign’ where people’s suggestion were collected on the theme "How We Make Delhi Safe". "There was huge involvement of people and over 5000 ‘Protesters’ voiced their opinion on the issue," informed Mrinal.
The common opinion which was voiced highlighted that this is certainly not a trivial problem to solve and people understood there can’t be any quick fixes. Junta also mentioned that this is not entirely a law-and-order problem and it very much has to do with fast-deteriorating human-values in our society. The issue was also identified as a Social problem, a Psychological problem, a Social-Economic issue. The solution mentioned by people said there is need for inculcating human-values and there is need for inclusive economic growth.
However the ‘Speak Up Campaign’ also highlighted, while these long term steps are certainly necessary, there is a real need of urgent steps. The justice not only need to be done but it also must be seen as being done. And this is where the government and administration is greatly lacking.
Ex Union Minister (Bhartiya Janta Party) Mr. Vijay Goel also participated in the ‘Speak Up Campaign’ and said “A fast Track court should be set up for speedy trial in such cases. Also there needs to be an element of fear amongst the culprits, this can be achieved by making stricter laws. The society also needs to introspect and instill the righteousness among youth”.
One can follow the #DelhiGangRape discussion here and also contribute to the discussion.
Talking about the bigger picture for Zammrs, Mrinal says, "Zammrs is a venture that aims to be the place of discussion for all such issues. This is a central place to know all the popular discussions happening and engage with that. This is also the place to start new conversation that potentially reaches out to millions. One doesn't have to be a celebrity to command that reach. Leveraging social-recommendation algorithm, a relevant and engaging content gains more visibility as people interact with it in form of Likes, Recommends and Comments. Thus it lets people engage with others outside their immediate social-network."
