IDG ventures have made quite a few high profile investments in the mobile space. From Vserv to Dhingana, the mobile companies in their portfolio covers the wide landscape of the mobile industry. And with it, come interesting insights into some of the issues riddling many a mobile entrepreneur.

Here, we have Karan Mohla from IDG ventures, who shares with us the many makeshift solutions to the problems in the mobile app space that the current crop of companies don’t have a permanent solution to.

“As you know you can monetize using freemium and advertising models and we’ve worked with both. Your monetization model must be divided by the markets that your apps are in. Developed markets will work on the freemium models where the users pay to use more of the app and in developing markets, the advertising model works well as people don’t like paying for apps. These routes might converge over the next two to three years, but as of now, this is the formula that’s worked for us.”

Stay tuned as we bring you more from the world of Mobile technology.
