Emkor Solutions - Your SMB's business process admin on the cloud
Change is the only constant and as a company grows, managing change and coming to terms with it has put many a company in a flux. To illustrate, getting used to a new admin ERP can take a HR team many valuable months. Such examples are present in every vertical of business; HR, finance, marketing, admin and operations, everyone dreads changes that will affect the way they work.
While change is important, the valuable time lost in transition from one system to another is costly. This is where, Emkor Solutions can help. Emkor is a part of the growing breed of SaaS companies providing business process (HR, marketing and finance solutions). It also hosts and manages them off the cloud.
This saves their client the trouble to cope with change, and allows them to reap the benefits of an effective system soon after implementing it.
Outsource what you're not good at
Emkor provides a large assortment of business applications to help a company's auxiliary functions. Vikram Dham, the CEO and co-founder of Emkor believes that the ideal state of a company's operation is when most of their focus is on their core activity. Selling software solutions isn't enough and Vikram asserts that managing these services is the most important service they provide.
An Emkor business app will be controlled by an administrator from Emkor itself, who will manage updates, user permissions, customer support and other activities which the client will have to otherwise do themselves. They are currently targeting the SMB space, with companies generating revenue between Rs 100 to 2,000 crore
Competitive pricing
Emkor goes by the "named user" philosophy, where the cost of using the software across devices is included under the subscription cost. While this is becoming a norm across business solution providers, Emkor's pricing plan works in its favor. Plans range between Rs 4,500 to Rs 7500 per user, the market segment that Emkor is targeting might be receptive to the pricing.
The average annual budget for an SMB nearing $160,000, and equipping the finance, HR and marketing teams with Emkor's solution might fall well within most SMB IT budgets.
Marketing and the problem of scale
Managing these apps can be a problem as Emkor signs up more customers. But Emkor follows the same philosophy that it uses to sell its products - outsource what you're not good at and concentrate on the core activity. Emkor builds the business applications and the management services have been outsourced to larger IT firms on a revenue sharing model.
Other than direct selling, Emkor has also partnered with many channel partners for marketing.
Making business process outsourcing accessable to SMB
Large companies such as a Cisco would outsource their business process operations to a large IT firm such as Infosys. This would help the company move to a more efficient business process without having to go through the pains of change management.
While the larger IT firms will cater for large clients, Emkor's pricing and target market will bring this solution to the smaller players in the market.
But this also poses a problem of scale; if there is going to be a dedicated admin for each client, the economies might not work at a scale. Entrepreneurs in this space will have to figure out intelligent ways of working around it.
As of now, Emkor is definitely a part the movement which will bring bring software plus service solutions to the smaller players.
