A week to go before the social experiment takes flight in Goa

Thursday March 21, 2013 , 2 min Read

Creativity often gets strangled by boundaries. In India, we’ve rarely seen people from various spheres come together to mingle; tech guys network with other techies, artists flock to other artists and social workers are confined to the ‘social space’. In an effort to change this, a group of entrepreneurs have come together to conduct a kind of a social experiment- The Goa Project.

The Goa Project is an attempt to mix up things, and take the attendees on a journey to meet diverse people who have made a mark on our society. “We collect the artists, the scientists, and the idealists; the mechanics, the nurturers, and the executives; the dreamers, the thinkers, and the doers, and put them together to see some magic,” say Preetham V V and Vijay Anand, the two key personalities behind the project.

A volunteer driven initiative, others in the core team include Caitlin Marinelli, Udhay Shankar, Rashmi Dhanwani and Sumeet Anand. The event is sponsored by FusionCharts, Wingify, PayTM andWebEngage and attending the unconference on March 28,29 will set you back by INR 5000. Being held at the Marabela beach, the broad agenda is a creative hybrid of workshops, teach-ins, and roundtables - tossed together with jam sessions, exhibitions, and show-and-tell. There are six tracks: Performing Arts and Music, Entrepreneurship, Film, Society, Fringe, and Visual Arts & Design.

The number of people has been restricted to 350 and the audience is curated in a way that everyone contributes. The fact that the event is set on the beaches of Goa, will be alluring for one and all interested in the creative side of life and some healthy cross-pollination of ideas.
