Man on a mission to do 28 jobs in 28 weeks across 28 states in India
Starting his career with Tata Consultancy Services, the turning point in his life came when he got through Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmadabad. The entrepreneurship bug entered into his vein and he went on to co-found EZeeDictionary.com (Picture dictionary of 2.5 lakhs word definitions), Fetcha Kucha (Story Telling workshop), International Short Film Festival – Bhubaneswar 2011, and one digital agency called EZeeDigi Communications.
Starting up and taking up several projects, Jubanashwa realized that “Job satisfaction is a serious issue worldwide”. And the reason behind it is people usually go for a stereotypical education as well stereotypical profession instead of choosing their own passion. Coming across the One-Week Job Project that was created in 2008 by Canadian resident, Sean Aiken, Jubanashwa got in touch with him and decided to do something similar in India. And thus was born 28 Jobs, 28 Weeks, 28 States.
We caught hold of Jubanashwa for a chat:
YourStory: What put you on the trail for this project?
Jubanashwa Mishra: I was just looking around and researching about why people do the jobs they do and that is when I landed onto OneWeekJob.com. It was successfully spreading the message of “Discover your passion” - Linda Chase in USA, Matt Frost in UK, Paul Seymour in Australi and was initiated Canadian resident Sean Aiken. I wrote to Sean, about my 28 states 28 Jobs idea and thus I was chosen as the India participant for One Week Job Project.
YS: What was your inspiration behind the project?
JM: The One-Week Job Project was created in 2008 by Canadian resident, Sean Aiken, who struggled to answer the question, “What should I do with my life?” Determined to discover his passion, he embarked on an epic journey throughout North America working 52 jobs in 52 weeks. Since completing his journey, Sean has published a book and produced a documentary film about the experience.
YS: How many offers have you got?
JM: I have lined up 6 job offers from Maharastra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal, Uttarakhand. Once the north states done, I will proceed towards south, then East and finally north east. I have planned out the itinerary according to the climate and monsoon seasons of India. Whatever wages I will be getting throughout this trip, I am donating to GOONJ.org.
YS: What kind of jobs are you looking for?
JM: I am open, ready and willing for any and all job offers that are presented to me. I can’t wait to discover what other jobs are available out there, many of which I may never of even heard of. I look forward to meeting new people who share the vision of One Week Job and are able to give me the opportunity to try my hand at a job for a week! Here is my job wish list which ranging from boat driver at Kerala, to Cremation assistant at Banaras, film maker at Mumbai, and tattoo artist at GOA. (Wishlist)
YS: What do you intend to do after this?
JM: At first I will complete the book and documentary film about my learning, experience, and discovery towards my passion. And I hope for rest of my life I will inspire others to pursue their dreams to live with their passion.
