Office documents collaboration tool AstralPad has announced their global launch. They have also announced the addition of a new feature - Google Drive support to "give Google Apps users a
better mobile solution for editing and collaborating on documents from the iPad."We covered AstralPad first, back in November 2012, and co-founder Rahul Singh described the product as a combination of "Office, Skype and WebEx". (Watch this). As a part of the launch, Rahul said, "The iPad is often the preferred platform at home, on the road, and even in the office, but professionals need better ways to get work done on the device. Given that millions of people around the world use Google Apps to work and collaborate, Google Drive support helps AstralPad fit even more seamlessly into the digital professional’s lifestyle.”
Like Rahul said last November, the app has launched in most English speaking countries like, UK,
France, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong and India. The aim of building this app was to reduce the need of a computer for a business professional and this reflects in its features. Apart from collaborative document editing features, the app includes live iPad screen sharing, built-in voice and video chat, and the ability to share edited documents over email.AstralPad supports Google Apps documents, spreadsheets, and presentations,
in addition to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Users can open
multiple documents at the same time from Dropbox, Google Drive or their iPad, and copy and paste rich text content, such as a chart or image from a
spreadsheet to a presentation.
