HealthIndya aims to improve the fragmented healthcare system in India
Motivated to improve the heavily-disintegrated healthcare system in India, HealthIndya wants to create a value chain and a single stop destination for one-to-one doctor patient interaction. With a growing young population, better awareness with payment systems in place, companies like this are becoming increasingly relevant in day-to-day patient care in India.
HealthIndya brings the healthcare provider base on a single platform, offering an online and phone based support for patients helping them to choose the right doctor, talk live with the doctors anytime during the day and get an opinion on their existing medical condition. From a clinician’s standpoint, it is a practice management tool enabling them to streamline their workflow.
The key challenge with the model is the mindset and careless attitude of the majority towards healthcare with very little attention being paid to preventive care and last minute chaos. HealthIndya is geared to getting more users to enroll, getting them used to the technology platform and engaging them into healthcare portfolio management with the prime market being the patients and their families on one end and doctors with small to medium size clinics/hospitals on the other.
Right now, clinics and other business providers are paying for using HealthIndya’s services. However, patient payment in future is not ruled out with features already built in for pay per use for specific services. Currently HealthIndya operates with a seven member team with two office locations in Delhi- NCR region catering to the local population. It is looking to add more tech savvy people to the team and to pull funding with a future plan to expand into Tier-2 cities.
Ashish takes delight in the “Jugaad” which has been a part of running a startup in Delhi, where connections can be the most important element sometimes and lack of communication methods can be a big challenge. “I laugh at these and go with the age old theory of do as Romans do”, says Ashish.
