Rentongo - an online marketplace for renting products

Want to rent camera, guitar, fridge or television? Unable to find one-stop platform that allows you to rent out such products? Don’t fret anymore, as Bangalore based Rentongo - an online marketplace - connects businesses/individuals providing different types of products on rent and customers who need it.Currently the startup offers products across 14 categories including adventure gears, appliances, furniture, vehicles with others. To rent products you need to either browse or search for a product. Post selection, you can send an enquiry and instantly receive relevant vendor/individual's contact details by sms and email. Businesses or individuals can also list products via facebook or email login.

Sharing his thoughts behind launching such platform, Nikhil Chhabra, founder, Rentongo said, “The thought of starting an online rental marketplace came about when my wife and I had shifted to Bangalore and were looking for a fully-furnished apartment. Since such options were limited, we thought of looking at unfurnished place on rent and went about looking for household stuff on rent to furnish the house. But soon we realized that the product rental market was very unorganized and fragmented. This triggered the concept of Rentongo”.

For security of products, Rentongo ensures that its listed vendors have a strong security mechanism in place. The startup’s legal expert helps vendors in this area. Currently, Rentongo has 400+ products listed for rent, and over 40 product owners (vendors and individuals). In terms of renters, the startup received hiring requests from more than 3,000 users over the last 6 months. “The hiring requests are growing at a rate of 40% month-on-month. All of this has been achieved without any funding and advertising,” added Chhabra.

With a team of four Rentongo, plans to introduce features to make renting more seamless for users, such as end-to-end online renting of products (including logistics support), and payment gateway integration.
