Mumbai-based online cab aggregator Olacabs has introduced luxury cab service ‘Ola Luxury’ in Mumbai after Bangalore. With this, users can hire Mercedes, BMW, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic among other high-end sedans and SUVs for point-to-point pick up and drop across the city.

The company will charge a minimum fare of Rs. 250 and Rs. 20 per kilometre for Ola Luxury. With this Olacabs gears to throw competition to recently launched mobile app based car rental service - Uber in Mumbai. Though Uber is not operational in Mumbai but it’s expected to launch very soon. Uber launched in India with Bangalore first followed by Delhi and Hyderabad.

Olacabs introduced its luxury fleet in September last year, and claims to process booking in three digits. Besides web and call based bookings, users can also book luxury cars through Ola’s Android / iOS mobile apps. One can track cab location in real time till they reach the customer’s pickup address.

Commenting on the launch, Co-founder and CEO Olacabs, Bhavish Aggarwal, said, “Mumbai is the business capital of India and we see great potential for luxury cars as a customer utility. There are people who would like to travel in comfort and class but they do not have access to hiring a top-end car for point-to-point use. With a one-touch app booking and strong integration of technology at every level, we expect Ola Luxury to become an indistinguishable, yet essential part of their lifestyle. Our aggregation model also allows luxury cab owners to make the most of their idle time by logging on to the Ola platform for increased business.”

The Tiger Global backed venture had recently announced its presence in Goa, and is operational in six other cities, including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai. It had also launched compact as a separate category for city taxis in Bangalore with a lower price point.
