Stupidsid registers 70% growth in revenues, launches last year paper solutions for engineering students

Stupidsid registers 70% growth in revenues, launches last year paper solutions for engineering students

Sunday March 23, 2014 , 3 min Read

Founded by Jinesh Bagadia, Shubham Doshi and Tumul Buch, Stupidsid is a portal to access honest reviews about colleges, more than what a college brochure can provide. The platform offers previous year’s paper solutions, notes, synopsis and last-minute cramming material for engineering aspirants.

Recently, the startup launched its new product, Stupidsid Paper Solutions, which contains answers to previous year’s papers. At present, the product is for Computer Science and IT branch but by April it will also offer papers for Electronics, Telecommunication and Mechanical branches.

“We are planning to come up with content for Bangalore first year engineering students. If we get decent response, going forward we’ll launch solutions for all the years’ papers for Bangalore students,” says Sumeet Jain, Co-founder Stupidsid.

With previous paper’s solution, engineering students will have option for module wise sorting, content search within the paper and intuitive experience on the go. Besides these, the startup is in the process of launching an Android app for offline viewing too.

Launched in 2010, Stupidsid has grown 70 times in terms of traction. “With 300 average daily visitors in the first year to 20,000 daily visitors now without any paid marketing,” adds Co-founder Jinesh. The company registered a growth of 600% in revenues this financial year 2013-14 compared to the last financial year.

“This year the revenue was mainly from advertisements and a small chunk from the e-learning content (Stupidsid Paper Solutions). The e-learning section was in beta mode last year but this time we plan to launch it on a bigger scale,” points out Sumeet.

For the ongoing semester, Stupidsid is focusing only in Mumbai and testing the waters in Bangalore, but in the coming semester it plans to formally launch in Bangalore and test another five cities. “We are yet to finalize on the cities/universities,” says Sumeet.

At present, the startup provides solutions to previous year’s papers, but from next year, it plans to add on more content as far as last-minute revision content and material for viva are concerned. “We will be roping in a few experts for the respective subjects and will provide online help to students in case they have any doubts with any concepts,” adds Jinesh.

Over the past two months, Stupidsid was approached by a handful of investors and couple of them have shown interest in the venture. “Investors are keen to invest in our venture but we aren't yet looking to raise capital. Going ahead we may require investment after second quarter to expand across other cities,” says Sumeet.
