Twitter to enter Ecommerce segment with an inbuilt 'Buy Now’ button embedded into a tweet.
Recode.net recently reported that tweets had been embedded with the ‘Buy Now’ button that redirected users to the shopping site, Fancy. The button is currently visible only on the mobile app, and not on web browsers. This would be an amazing opportunity for brands. They can now use the platform not just to engage with audience, but also make purchases.
For it to be effective users will have to give twitter their contact details and Credit card information which will be handled securely within the twitter app.
Twitter Commerce posts are most likely to appear just like normal tweets and show up in-stream similar to promoted tweets. They could also show up through twitter’s Discover tab, which would contain follower activity with regards to their purchases on Twitter. Users could also get more details about the products those they follow bought with an option for the user to do the same.
