Exclusive: ZopNow goes omni-channel, ties up with Hypercity store in Bangalore
Online grocery and consumer product goods retailer ZopNow has entered into a strategic integration with the Hypercity chain of stores to deliver groceries to its customers in Bangalore. The first Hypercity store where this integration has been in place for around a month is the store at Kundanahalli in Bangalore.
With this alliance, ZopNow will use Hypercity store’s SKUs to deliver orders in Whitefield and adjacent areas. Meanwhile, nothing changes for the ZopNow customers who still order using the ZopNow website or the mobile app. But depending on their address (pin code), they will see an assortment of products from the nearest ZopNow warehouse.
“This marks the beginning of a long and interesting journey for the two teams of ZopNow and Hypercity, which is focused on providing a great shopping experience to the customer. There are more things in the offing where customers can make their purchases using any medium, and still have their orders delivered home in specific time slots,” said Mukesh Singh, CEO of Zopnow. The Times Internet funded venture had launched vegetables and fruits category with over 100 SKUs in April this year.
Is this the beginning of an omni-channel shopping experience in India?
The alliance between ZopNow and Hypercity store seems positioned to make ZopNow more efficient and accessible to a wider consumer base in Bangalore. With such a model, ZopNow will easily be able to expand to other cities. Importantly, as of now ZopNow is only operational in Bangalore.
In YourStory’s view, the move can be fruitful as it merges online and offline retail channels seamlessly into one entity for consumers. Delhi-based marketplace for CPG and FMCG goods, Aaramshop, has been leveraging network of neighborhood retailers to deliver grocery in various cities in India.
