SlideShare launches new feature on LinkedIn to visualize your professional journey
SlideShare was founded back in 2006 with a simple goal of sharing knowledge online. It allows users to easily upload and share presentations, infographics, documents, etc and in Q4 of 2013, the site averaged 60 million unique visitors a month and 215 million page views. The company was acquired by LinkedIn back in 2012 and which helped to fuel growth. Today, Amit Ranjan, the co-founder of SlideShare announced this new feature (read about him and the origins of SlideShare) that allows one to visualize his or her professional journey.
Built on top of LinkedIn data, allowing access to take your information from there, SlideShare will auto generate your visualization in the following format which can then be published on SlideShare. Here's how the visualization will look:
One can choose a template as well. The feature has great virality potential as a user is most likely to get one for himself or herself once they see a visualiztion. It's also a good example of how a single action is proving to be win-win for both the companies: SlideShare gets more user generated content, LinkedIn's data becomes richer and the user gets something worth sharing. It also opens up a possibility of positioning this as a easy way to beautify your resume.
