[Photo Story] Vigyan Ashram- an educational institute creating rural entrepreneurs
A scientist turned educationalist Late Dr.S.S.Kalbag started Vigyan Ashram in 1983 to find out solution to the problems in education. Over the years, Vigyan Ashram has been doing phenomenal work and has been the budding ground for many rural entrepreneurs. VA’s educational program IBT (Introduction to Basic Technology) is adopted by more than 122 high schools –across 4 states in India and the Ashram also runs a centre in Pabal, Maharashtra. All students that come to the Ashram are school drop outs and the Ashram provides a platform for these students to build their own ventures. Based in a small village called Pabal between Pune and Mumbai, I visited Vigyan Ashram in the middle of April and have some images from there:
