NGO from Uttarakhand awarded for work in field of women's empowerment

Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra, a leading NGO of Uttarakhand has been conferred with the Future Leadership award for its work in the field of women’s empowerment.

Winner of the award is chosen from among the finalists from small and medium categories of NGOs from all over the country at the end of an all India competition organised by Resource Alliance and supported by Rockefeller foundation and EdelGive Foundation, a release from the NGO quoting its head Padmashri Avdhash Kaushal said in Dehradun.

“The award is to acknowledge the potential to achieve good governance, effective programme impact, exemplary human resources practices, sustainable resource mobilisation and transparent financial management,” it said. Organisations working in the area of women’s empowerment are preferred to be considered for the award, the release said.

As part of the award Namrata Gulati, Executive Secretary of the NGO would undergo a training programme at Oxford University. She will receive training at Wolfson College, Oxford University with the support of London Business School. The NGO representative will be trained in techniques of fund raising and leadership skills. The entire program is funded by Rockefeller Foundation.
